Due ragazze volteggiano nel cielo di Roma. Il paesaggio monumentale è il toro. Loro sono la muleta. Una mostra con un passo in più. Pasodoble... Questo breve commento condensa al meglio il flusso di pensieri e associazioni che mi hanno suscitato le prime foto di Laura e Daria. Una salta davanti ad un monumento e l'altra scatta. Poi si scambiano i ruoli. Vedendole volteggiare nelle più belle piazze romane avevo la sensazione di assistere ad una danza, ad una sorta di rituale contemporaneo e vivificante, tutto femminile, che prorompe dalla riuscita collaborazione tra un'artista più performativa, Laura Cionci, e Daria Paladino più concentrata sulla resa dell'immagine, agli esordi tramite la pittura, in questa mostra utilizzando la fotografia.
Two girls fly through Rome’s skies. The monumental landscapes are the bull; they are the red cape. This is an art show with an extra step, a double step, Pasodoble… This brief comment is what really distils the flow of thoughts and associations that I experienced when I saw Laura and Daria’s first photographs. One of the girls jumps through the air in front of a monument and the other takes the picture, before reversing their roles. Observing them as they whirl through Rome’s most beautiful piazzas, I had the feeling of observing a dance, a sort of contemporary and electrifying femminine ritual born of the collaboration between Laura Cionci, the more performing artist, and painter Daria Paladino who focuses more on the image, but here tests herself with photography.
